According to the article: "Mbaye’s defense attorney, Thomas Kenniff, said . . . there was “never any intent for him to strike the child.”"
If you shoot a gun into the air and it hits and kills a child on its way down, you are responsible for that death even if there was "never any intent to strike the child."
You interfere with someone and they get hurt, you are responsible.
Or, a bullet would help keep the public safe from him. (Mod note: No, I'm NOT kidding.)
This crap needs to STOP. NOW.
Would you be so eager to recommend shooting to kill if the mentally ill one were a sibling or adult child of yours? Or what if the self-appointed vigilante accidentally missed his target and struck you or your wife?
People need to think before they blurt things out. There's a reason our taxes help pay for law enforcement. Use your vote to bring about change. You probably already do.

Moving on, what a true and utter disgrace that New Yorkers are dealing with these days in the aftermath of bail reform laws. No, things weren't perfect beforehand, but they've been worsening as a result of such laws. I fear they won't change either until, sadly, someone very close to lawmakers are violently assaulted (or worse) by a perp who was let back out onto the streets as a results of these laws they helped to pass.
One way to view the United States is as 50 laboratories of democracy. I am grateful that New York took the bail reform experiment and not my state.
I'm going to be in Times Square at the end of March. I have two years of pent up frustration that I've been wanting to take out on someone. I hope he's available to volunteer.

Good luck, I guess. I wouldn't set foot in that place for any reason.
I feel so angry for that poor little boy and his mom. How do you even explain to the child what happened? A sick bad man hit you ? I hope someone has started a go fund me page for this child. He deserves to have his college tuition paid for! No child should have to deal with that.
It happened so quickly and mama seemed to have it under control before the cops came less than a minute later, so I'm not peeved at the bystanders (many of whom may not have even seen the assault).

Yep. So did the couple walking away from the camera, and a lady in all black. They saw it happen, and just kept going. Everyone else there saw the mom and the perp on the ground and just stood there. Only one guy appeared to try to at least summon the police.
