More Americans are commuting by bicycle.

The number of Americans who bike to work jumped by about 60% since 2000, according to a report from the U.S. Census Bureau released Thursday.

Good. Love it. Less congestion, more exercise, less pollution. Savings! Increasing bicycling infrastructure in towns and cities all over the country is encouraging people to leave the car at home and travel by bicycle to work. Also, more and more businesses are accommodating their bicycle commuting employees with a place to store their bicycle while working and providing showers and lockers. Some businesses even entice their employees to ride their bike to work with incentives like gift cards, free bus passes and discounts to dining, movies and other products and services. I see the number of bicycle commuters to increase dramatically in the next decade.

-Cheers.

I hear the bike commute rates are increasing, but we have a huge increase in "weekend biking."

People biking to the grocery store, shopping etc. The grocery store bike racks are full, I see tons of cargo bikes and trailers. Lots of people on the streets and bike lanes.
