I go annually for a full-body check and always see the dermatologist. Usually she will freeze off a small basal cell carcinoma on my face. Last time she lanced a cyst on my scalp. She always takes her time and doesn't rush; very professional.
I will go every 6 months and have some stuff taken off, but I know whatever is not cancerous will be expensive. I have great hopes that I'll be gorgeous by that time from the $81.00 retinA cream, though.
I just went a few weeks ago and saw the dermatologist, a nurse was helping him. It was a full body check. had to have something cut off. It was about a half an hour that he spent with me. Checked all over my body and answered questions and concerns I had.
I see either the PA or the doctor, depending on what I go in for. If it's my whole body mole check (brother had melanoma), I see the doc. If it's a wart on my finger, I see the PA. It's my choice when I call to schedule.

Sounds like you have an excellent dermatologist.
I have probably seen 15 to 20 dermatologists in my life and ONLY 1 ever did a full body check.
Seems to me that most are derelict in doing what they are supposed to be doing....checking your skin for potential danger.
I saw a dermatologist last week Wednesday. I had a large mass on my right calf and it was removed. He warned me that it would be painful, but I didn't expect to be hobbled for a full week. He did seem to take his time... I was more than ready to get the heck out of there after a half hour of him poking and prodding.
I think I'd really want to see the actual dermatologist if I had an appointment. If he or she didn't bother to see me, I'd probably keep an eye out for a new, improved dermatologist.
Both my husband and I have gone to the same dermatologist. He's the only one in the office and is fantastic. Even though we have moved from Jacksonville, FL further south, we both would take the trip and see him again. He's that good! When you find someone good their worth the trip.
