So, today I went to a dermatologist to be checked and to have a few things cut off that did not belong on my body. A few years ago I went to a different one. Neither time did I see the doctor. Today, there was no actual doctor on the premises at all.
The PAC-something was very nice and professional, but it made me wonder if I should just snip off the odd stuff that might grow on my body, stick a bandaid on it, and save myself a few hundred dollars?
I have a female dermatologist, a MOHS specialist, that I see periodically for 10-15 minutes, sometimes longer depending on the procedure. She's never rushed nor are her assistant's.
OP, doing it yourself can be dangerous, an infection would be #1 problem.

You might end up with an infection.
To answer question: many years ago, to have a couple of tattoos removed.
I see a dermatologist regularly to cut off weird things and my daughter sees one for acne. She's an older woman and always spends plenty of time with each of us. The downside is that because she takes plenty of time with her patients, there's always a long wait. We always go late in the afternoon and if the appointment is at 4, we might not get out of there until 6.

I was not really serious about doing it myself. It just seems like dermatologists don't actually do much.

Our dermatologist is a private practice physician. She has one person in the office who does all the billing, intake, reception stuff, scheduling, and insurance stuff. And then there's the doctor, who does all the medical stuff and sending out specimens to the lab.
When I have a hangtag, I just cut it off with a manicure scissors. If it's on my armpit or bikini line, I shave it off. Usually doesn't even bleed, and it's painless.
I go once a year and I always see the Physician Assistant and not by choice. I don't even know if they have an MD there. Very very quick visits.
