As long as he can hold on to Ryan and Jon Daniels I'm all for it. As a matter of fact I don't care who owns it as long as they keep the team here and they can hold on to the aforementioned management.

he has deep pockets--as long as he plays fair with the Rangers--
but forget about keeping Nolan Ryan--
if he does not own the team he is not working there
he is not in it for the money...
and Cuban really had a hard time getting winners out of Dallas--what makes anyone think he can do better with the Rangers...

I'll predict that he has the high bid, but doesn't get approved by the owners' committee. MLB doesn't like boat-rockers. I read a column yesterday that said he would be too much of a big-spender, paying ridiculous amounts to acquire top talent, and the owners won't want to have another Steinbrenner starting bidding wars.

I'd like for Cuban to buy them...increases the likelihood of Ryan putting in an offer for the Astros.

then the team just goes back in the hopper

the judge causing all this problem is treating this like it is a normal business--and it is not...
good will of the fans is so important and intagible and ephemeral too
they will be gone in a heartbeat if Ryan does not get this team
lots of baseball people could care less about basketball--totally different type of fan really--so Cuban means way less than Nolan Ryan to them--they probably think he is a jerk who likes to flash his money--which is kind of true...
article today in FTW paper by J Engles--I think-- the female sports writer--taking Cuban to task for putting his money over the welfare of the Rangers...

Do you think Mark Cuban will move the Rangers near Downtown Dallas anytime soon?

About as much chance as if someone bought the Cowboys and moving them back to Dallas.

Because the location of the ballpark sucks. Easily one of the worse in the nation. I envy the fans and ballparks that Houston, St. Louis, Cincinatti, Milwaukee, Washington, San Diego, Seattle, and Philadelphia have. What do they all have in common? They are all in urban locations in or near downtown. Even the Florida Marlins are moving near downtown Miami. The area surrounding the ballpark in an urban location is what makes an experience attending a game much better.

Not to mention that this is Texas. It is in the triple digits right now. The stadium needs a roof. I'd rather watch the game in the air conditioned Minute Maid Park than sit there in the furnace that is the Ballpark in Arlington. There's a reason why Arizona and Houston have retractable roofs. There is a reason why the Marlins are building a retractable roof for the new stadium. It's too hot in these places from June-early September.
