How do you feel about Mark Cuban buying the Texas Rangers?

Mark Cuban is just one of several potential bidders. Nothing has been confirmed. Wednesday 8/4 is the auction date.

Cuban Pros:
- would bring more energy and excitement to the Rangers fan base
- deep pockets
- will push hard for an indoor stadium, likely in Dallas

Cons:
- he's a controversial figure and may turn off some fans
- he doesn't seem to be that interested in baseball
- the Rangers organization will likely lose Nolan Ryan
- ownership of multi pro-sports franchises. DFW just went through this with Tom Hicks, didn't work out to well.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cuban as Rangers owner. Would rather Ryan-Greenberg win, but Cuban would be better than the newly announced bidder Fox Networks (Rupert Murdoch).

Ugh, if Cuban does buy the rangers say goodbye to the rest of Texas as fans. Cuban is in ill-mannered bore who is a turn off to anyone but a dallasite. Nolan Ryan is universally beloved and actually cares about the sport.

How could they ever argue for a new Dallas stadium with an already beautiful and relatively new ballpark in the area?

Indeed, a beautiful stadium and a blast furnace.

If that's the case, why would you post on this thread?

I prefer the Ryan-Greenburg ownership, but Cuban could inject some life into the team. Maybe a Cuban and Ryan partnership?

I think a Cuban-Ryan partnership would be ideal. Cuban has the cash to resign top free agents this off season like Hamilton and Lee. I'm not sure that Greenburg could get them both back. Cuban lives here and is obviously passionate about winning.
