What is it like living/dating in Dallas as a young professional (read:lawyer 27-31 age bracket 160K+ a year salary before taxes) African-American man? Is it hard to meet level headed attractive women who are attracted to Black men? Are the woman very shallow and "out there" like women in some other major metro areas? Are the woman very against monogamous relationships? I'm particularly curious about the Black and latino women, although I love women of all races!

Sorry about the uncreative username--I just drew a blank!

Working big law hours, do you think you have the time to date, let along dating someone who's going to be faithful to you while you spend so many hours at work?

Isn't this a bit extreme? So you are saying that it is absolutely impossible to have any sort of life outside of the firm? Correct me if I"m wrong but I was told that the BigTex firms are not as brutal as the NYC ones (especially not Haynes Boone for example).

If you want to date black women, there should be plenty to choose from. 70% of black women are single and many of them never get proposed to, according to stats.

Join/visit any of the larger churches. There are plenty of single late 20's to early 30's women looking for a monogamous relationship. If you are looking younger than that more than likely they are not in the market for a serious relationship which is where you will have problems. You didnt say what the criteria for a woman was other than being black. Also most public sorority events have a large gathering of women. I would not be so quick to tell the women what your salary is though, gold diggers come a dime a dozen and will pretend to be interested in you just to get some of that salary.

IMHO, that was a bit extreme, myself being a lawyer who spent many years in BIGLAW. I remember someone saying that to me when I just started law school: "law school is crazy busy, completely focus on that, don't date." That pissed me off as a (then) 21 year old single male. I never it stop me and met the love of my life in my 1L summer year.

Now yeah BigTex isn't as brutal as BIGLAW NYC, but it's still BIGLAW. Don't forget that. Having said that, you can have a life. And date.

It won't be hard for you to meet level headed attractive black and latino women that want to date black men. When you go out and socialize, you'll have all races of women attracted to you, being an professional and all. Not saying that everyone is a gold digger, but the fact that you have your act together will be attractive to women.

Problem comes if you are not white, black or hispanic. My brother was here for a while and wanted to date, but had a tough time. Even had one young lady tell a friend of his, as to why she wouldn't date him, "I don't date that skin color." He also said many personal ads from women said white only, or white/hispanic only, or white/hispanic/black only. It's MUCH tougher here (and most major metros) for a professional asian man looking date as opposed to a professional black man. But I digress.

You'll be fine. Yes you will attract golddiggers but keep your salary a secret for a while. Don't flash money/cash/etc. Too many people do that in this metro, they even have a term for it "Thirty Thousand Dollar Millionaires." The thing is, you have the cash to upstage them, but you don't want in that game. Good luck.

What is he supposed to do? Go to church, and then hang around AFTER the service is over?

Most churches have singles ministry or get togethers. If you attend you will receive info on when these events are and you usually dont have to be a member to attend. Or yes he could stay around after church. Most black church's the congregation doesnt go straight home after service.
