My husband and I want to move to Dallas and we want to live in the Plano area. I am having a hard time finding any decent rentals because we need at least a three bedroom, four preferred (we have 4 kids, aged 6, 5, 4, and 3). Does anyone know of any good real estate leasing companies? Is that area scarce on rentals? I've tried accessing the newspaper online and still am not having much luck, and we weren't looking to buy until we know the area better.

If anyone has any ideas of other family friendly areas that are safe and have good education ratings, within 30 miles of a university, please let me know!

Thanks so much!!

go to Realtor.com and search for rentals there. Use the advanced search feature where you will be able to indicate that you are seeking a rental property and give specifics about size and rental prices. They list 210 houses for rent in Plano.

There are over 100 listings in the MLS for single family homes in Plano with 4 bedrooms priced from $1100 to 10K a month.

when we were looking, i googled DFW rental homes and used the search engines that popped up. thats how i found our current home. craigslist wasn't that helpful, but it is worth a shot.

Google a local realtor in Plano, and call them. They will find you a good house to live in easily - they get compensated from the person listing the house for lease on the MLS / its free for you. Plano is a big city (more than 250,000 people) so there should be tons of rentals

There's a home across from me for rent in Murphy and it's not the only one. They are out there.

You may want to consider Flower Mound. We just moved here a couple of months ago and love it. People say that it isn't as congested (traffic wise) as Plano and the schools are fabulous. Also Highland Village is next to Flower Mound. Both very nice cities...

Have you looked in Carrollton? Family friendly, quiet, safe area & connects to Plano on the SW side. In our neighborhood, we have award winning schools just blocks away, K-12. There are more rentals available right now than usual here, because people who want to move can't get what they want for their house if they sell it, due to the down market. We are planning to rent ours out in January after we buy our new house, for that very same reason. We have one of the few 4 br houses in the neighborhood - many are 3br. Message me privately if you want more info about the exact area, or if the timing sounds right, our house!
