Jerry Jones wanted the record. And I was listening to ESPN Dallas earlier today, and they said the first company told them to stop the temporary seating at 7,000. The NFL and Jones didn't like it and fired them the Friday before the Super Bowl (they were either fired or walked out). They then hired another company that added in like 8,000 or so seats, but wouldn't agree to the last 1200 or so that were left out.

Apparently the NFL knew about the seating problem for over a week. The contractor hired by the NFL to do the job out of NY(Seating Solutions), walked off the job this past Friday. Another contractor brought in to finish the job said Seating Solutions ran out of parts, had trouble meeting code and simply walked off the job.

The NFL took control of Cowboy stadium on the Monday of Superbowl weekend. The city of Arlington and the NFL have to own up to this.

Jerry Jones had ABSOLUTELY no say in what went on within the stadium. The NFL took control of the stadium and it's facilities on the Monday of the Superbowl.

Looks like I kind of messed it up, but this is what I heard on the radio.

So, you don't think the NFL had a little pressure from Jerry because he wanted to SB record attendance? I highly doubt that. It's still Jones' stadium.

One word...ego. Something Jerry Jones has a sh*tload of. Jerruh wanted to set an attendance record and the NFL was complicit in the stupidity.

yeah--about that I tend to agree--if Jerry/Cowboys' front office had control of completing installing those temp seats--I think they would have made it happen

the reason the practice facility collapsed was because they left it to the contractor vs doing it themselves...
Jerry is too oc/dc to allow mistakes--except in player/coach decisions--

Of course JJ wanted the record. He came out and stated as much. But the NFL also wanted that record. They wanted and got the profit from ticket sales. The Cowboys nor JJ got ZILCH of any monies from that. The Cowboys were paid by the North Texas Superbowl Committee a fee for leasing the stadium.

JJ wanted it purely for marketing and bragging rights for his ego.

This is correct. All the news reports right after the Cotton Bowl were saying the NFL now takes complete control over the stadium, stadium grounds, ticketing, seating and parking. They completed this plan way back in September.
