Hi..I will be staying at a hotel by North Central Expressway, I would like to know if there are any good BBQ joints nearby?....or anywhere in Dallas, that serves chicken....Brisket..that sort of thing...anything besides Rudy's, as I have that here and would like to try others. If anyone knows also of anygood seafood place that sells fresh seafood that would be great as that is what my dad likes...Thanks!!!

Oh....I will be at the La Quinta inn @ 10001 North Central Expressway, it is close to a Fireside Pizza, which I read was also good...

This is south of the M Streets, between Fitzhugh and McCommas. West of your hotel is McKinney Ave and just north of "Uptown's" Knox- Mckinney area. A lot of great places.

Sonny Bryans is the best BBQ around Dallas for sure...Several locations

Pappadeaux has seafood and they are in Dallas, Richardson and Arlington too

Well there is a Dickie's BBQ right by your hotel. It's not bad but not going to win any awards. Dallas isn't known for exceptional BBQ but my personal favorite is Sammy's next to the Fed in Uptown. Sonny Bryan's is the famous Dallas name but nothing special IMO.

For seafood try Dodies, Trulucks, Oceanaire, or Pappedeaux's
Oceanaire being the best and freshest but most expensive. Dodies and Pappadeaux's are more the cajun variety and very good. Trulucks is famous for it's stone crab. Good but a little pricey.

Dallas doesn't have a ton of outstanding BBQ or seafood. For BBQ, Sammy's in Uptown is good and so is Peggy Sue's BBQ in Snider Plaza by SMU. Both are within 5-10 minutes of your hotel. You really have to get out into the smaller Texas towns to find the really good BBQ though.

For seafood, Rex's on West Lovers Lane (about 10-12 minutes northwest of your hotel) is very very good. They only serve dinner and are a fish market during the day. Daddy Jack's is on Lower Greenville pretty close to your hotel and is a traditional New England style seafood joint- affordable and very good. Cafe Pacific in Highland Park Village is expensive but very good. Most of the nice steakhouses like Nick & Sam's and Al Biernet's do well with fish entrees and appetizers. They are both in the Uptown/Oak Lawn area not far from your hotel.

There are quite a few good popular restaurants right by your hotel:
Hibiscus is outstanding and is a casual steakhouse/new American restaurant. I've had some wonderful fish there too!
Tei Tei - sushi, very good
The Porch & Park are both casual American restaurants that are good & always crowded. The Porch has a little more comfort food and Park has more Tex-Mex entrees like tacos.

Across Central is Knox Street with many more good restaurants:
La Duni- Latin, wonderful brunch & desserts
Taverna- Italian/ pizza with a good patio
Harry's- famous for frozen custard!
Highland Park Pharmacy- old fashioned counter service for grilled sandwiches, shakes & malts, etc.

I think Sugar Baby's was off of 75 somewhere. I love that place.
