I know it is a controversial issue, but I am a non-smoker and going into a restaurant that allows smoking inside (even in the bar area) keeps my business at bay. I like dining in Frisco and Allen for that very reason.

Looking at cities that allow smoking in restaurants, do you think it keeps bigger restaurants from moving in? We are considering a move to The Colony, but there is a lack of restaurants. As the area begins to get some money come in, can new restaurants ban smoking despite being no law?

It's not fine dining but they have a great Rusty Taco. I go down there for it. I wasn't aware some restaurants allowed smoking. So far, I've eaten in Allen, McKinney, Little Elm, Plano, Frisco, and The Colony. None had smoking sections.

I live in Dallas and am not aware of DFW cities that allow smoking in restaurants and/or bars.

Restaurants and bars are always free to not allow smoking on their own. But in (the sad) reality, they will be at a competitive disadvantage with other restaurants and bars in the city.

Angelina's in the Colony had smokers inside. Stan's also had smoke smell inside, but that coil have been from people outside on patio. Those are only two restaurants I've been in in Colony. Ralph & Kacoos and Trinity Hall in Allen both allowed smoking in their bar areas and installed special ventilation systems to permit them. Oddly enough, both o those places closed down within 1-2 years after opening.

Nicks in the Colony also had smokers...but that is more of a bar than restaurant.

I hear Texas Roadhouse allows smoking at Colony location, but I've never been...

Unfortunately, Grapevine hasn't banned smoking in restaurants, and the city council has no plans to create such a ban. That being said, only a few restaurants in town allow smoking inside, and the few that do are more "bar" type places than true restaurants: Wilhoite's, Back Porch, Tap Inn, etc. I honestly don't frequent those places simply because of the smoke!

Both Dallas and Fort Worth have banned smoking in restaurants, and many suburbs have done the same.

Richardson still allows smoking. Last time I was in Sherlock s in Richardson it was like a smokehouse. We left immediately.

Well i am a smoker, but i do feel smoking should not be allowed inside the restaurants, it can be allowed if there is an outside seating facility provided.

Leave smoking inside to bars!

J's Breakfast and Burgers in Addison has a smoking section, right when you walk in. Also, Bic's in Addison has a whole smoking section off the back end.
