Who's your power company and why did you pick them? Rate? Service? I'm currently with TXU but continue to receive other offers in the mail. Just wondering.

Texas Power. I picked them at the suggestion of a friend. The rates are great and the service is friendly.

Previously Reliant. I switched to Bounce about 3 months ago for a lower rate.

StarTex Power 3-year plan @ $0.098 per kWh, which expires in 8 months. Excellent customer service and billing/payment options, etc.

Champion Energy Services. Signed up with them 3 years ago and they had the lowest rate. Now, they are no longer lowest, but still very competitive and have been ranked #1 in customer service for the past several years. We've had no problems with them.

I was with StarTex as well and would recommend them. Make sure to pay attention to your contract dates though with any provider.

I was looking at Reliant's website at the basic month to month plan and have some questions...

"A usage charge of $9.95 applies when monthly usage is below 800 kWh during a billing cycle"

So they are gonna charge me an extra $9.95 usage charge for conserving energy? Am I reading this right?
Last month I used 147 kWh in my 800 sq. ft NYC apartment.

Wife wanted Green Mountain to stay as "green" as possible, even though it's 11.22. Yes I know they aren't really that green, no need to post about it here.

I've heard great things about Gexa from a few friends though.
