Preston Hollow Village project in North Dallas plans to build some office space | Biz Beat Blog

This development is upscale, isn't it? Isn't Preston Hollow a neighborhood of estate mansions? And this would be built on the western side of Central, meaning that like Northpark Mall, it is on the side closer to Preston Road. And, as I've always said about Dallas, the retail development always takes precedence over office development. The easiest way to establish office development in the Dallas area is to first work out the much more difficult task of establishing successful retail development. And just how significant of a retail development will this become in comparison to Northpark mall, Preston Center, and the Dallas Galleria (Highland Park Village is in another universe all by itself.)?

Granted, a total of a hundred square feet of retail isn't a lot, but that amount could rise in the future as the development takes shape.

In Dallas, certain neighborhoods don't make any sense until they are put into the perspective that the businesses located within the office buildings around the area reside within a commercial shopping district and not the other way around. But people will always be distracted and carried away by the tall edifices that get erected in clear sight.

A big project is planned for the former Hard Rock Café site at McKinney and Routh streets.

"The former Hard Rock Cafe site has been sought after as the best development location in Texas, and we are fortunate to ... work with architect Phil Shepherd to design an iconic tower that will include two or three world-class restaurants and 200 units of super luxury apartments. We expect to break ground on the tower in 1Q14."

Sorry guys for re-posting that info but its a different article so I left it...I'm so glad that the Hard Rock Cafe site is FINALLY getting developed...I hope the design is very over the top so Dallas can finally OWN that stereotype.

With all these developments, as well as the Horseshoe Project, the second Calatrava bridge, the trolley from downtown to Oak Cliff, Trinity Groves and the redevelopment of West Dallas, etc., Dallas is going to be unrecognizable by the end of the decade.

Couldn't you have just said Dallas Metropolis, since the site technically isn't called that anymore?
