Beaten by White Rock's entitled parents, Cane Rosso fills in fountain - CultureMap Dallas

Saw this on Reddit and there are a multitude of comments about the entitled parents in Lakewood. Is this common there? I can't believe parents let their kids run amock in a restaurant, so much so that these kids get into a fountain and the parents do nothing. Lakewooder please tell me this article is exaggerated. It really is disappointing, but I'm not going to just bash Lakewood b/c unfortunately this type of bad parenting is prevalent in pretty much every neighborhood and suburb across the country.

I've never been to Cane Rossi. Is it any good? It does sound like the fountain/fire pit was a cool feature. Too bad they caved and filled it in.

Those kids were imports from Plano.

Doubtful. We don't venture south of 635. Ever.

Fortunately, Cane Rosso accommodates the CoCo contingent with their location up by Allen.

Yes, Cane Rosso is excellent pizza.

As my mother would say, "that's why we can't have nice things."

I'll have to try it out. I've passed by it on several occasions. Maybe if I go late enough it won't be filled with undisciplined children. Always on the lookout for good pizza.

It's the liberal agenda that lead to all of this...

Pizza's good. A bit thin, but fresh and flavorful. Too bad Uno's is all the way in Ft. Worth.

This liberal right here is pretty sick and tired of entitled parents thinking the entire world revolves around their crotchspawn.

Not a chance!

I have also noticed this in Lakewood/East Dallas far more than in the Park Cities or Preston Hollow/ North Dallas....a bad trend of parents who want to party but bring their kids along and assume it's not a problem for the kids to run amok all over the restaurant. It's the absolute worst at The Lot where you can watch the ladies of the LECPTA leadership get pretty tipsy while their kids run around and terrorize other kids and tables of adults. If another outside parent tries to intervene - "hey, keep an eye on your kid"- they Lakewood ladies go ballistic on the outside parent. The LECPTA women plan all their parties around booze, think it's funny to be raunchy at LECPTA events (like dinner parties won at the auction where the party conversation quickly turns to "how old were you when you lost your virginity", "wildest place you & hubby have done it, etc"....and gently bullying attendees who don't play along)...... pretty much the least classy PTA in town.

Unfortunately I know too much about this because we have two couple friends who run with this crowd. After several years of this - and it only gets worse as their older kids are now in Elemetary school (why don't these people hire babysitters??) I refuse to do anything with them unless it's a double or triple date. We have been to quite a few of the Lakewood parties over the years....have never seen or heard of any equivalent activity from the HPISD or private school crowds.

Call me old-fashioned, but I just don't think kids should see parents drinking...a glass of wine or beer is ok, but having kids at parties and restaurants where parents are in the tipsy to falling over drunk range just does not sit right with me. They all own $500k+ houses so can certainly afford $50 for a Friday night babysitter.

I was kidding. I was going to blame it on Obama, but that's been taken from me.

I am always amazed at a parent acting like we're rebuilding after the flood and no one could understand what it's like to have a child. It's a child. It's been done before.

Peanuts- you that allergic- carry an epi pen and avoid Skippy.
Gluten allergy- Unless you've got intestinal biopsies, I'm not buying it.
Organic- ?
Vaccines- Don't take advantage of herd immunity and don't threaten it.
Excessive cleanliness- Kids can eat off the floor, fall down, break things, ride without helmets and still come out ok- I worked out well for our parents.

Babysitter not needed- Get your kid headphones and iPad and teach them to behave in public, you have to take them out the house at some point.

THANK YOU...I thought I was the only fuddy duddy taken aback by liquored-up mamas getting tipsy in front of their young children. Stay classy, y'all.

Ah; I tend to take things literally.

I agree with pretty much everything you said, though an iPad and headphones are an electronic babysitter and they aren't teaching kids how to behave, since adults would think it was pretty rude if another adult was doing that. But yeah, I get that sometimes it's just easier.
