I second this, particularly since you mentioned NYU. NYU does not have a proper "campus" and students can feel isolated there. As an alternative, consider Columbia...Freshman housing/dining is centrally located on their main campus. Also, when our youngster attended a few years ago, housing was super cheap as compared to places like UT Austin, all the U of California schools, NYU, etc. Not sure why this was, but perhaps because they own their buildings and have owned them for a very long time.

Columbia owns or at least controls a number of greatly subsidized apartments. The Morningside Heights area while nothing like Chelsea or Greenwich Village is quite expensive generally. Columbia has been around for going on 300 years there is no telling what all the school owns and controls in that part of town.

GC looked at his resume and it's not as great as we we thought because 3.8 isn't his unweighted GPA, it's weighted. That's a game changer.
