Dallas's gas panic was totally preventable. Here's why - Aug. 31, 2017

Love this quote from the article:

Quote:
And Dallas is somewhat lucky. Had a similar panic broken out in a city like Atlanta, which does not have refineries or alternative gas pipelines nearby, the city could have been left stranded without fuel, DeHaan added.

I understand people who are wanting to fill their tanks up.

However, to all of those who went and filled up up & then also filled up multiple containers with gas because of this alleged "shortage" - go to hell!!! You were the ones that caused this shortage in the first place!

What else can be expected when you build a consumption based economy with a 'me-first' entitlement mentality. Hate to imagine what will happen if there is a real shortage - Hunger Games rules will apply I guess...

Here in Wylie, regular unleaded gas is available, however no premium or mid grade, and it's been like that here in Wylie since the shortage began. Something to consider for future car purchases as I wanted a Lexus or something luxury next time.

I think DFW area supply increases has gained upper hand. I can see more greens on GasBuddy map than reds. In a station near me, there was no line and very few people but it has all grades available. I pulled in to one of the pumps and used GasBuddy app keyed in "has gas". Once this becomes dominant there is no sense for panic fill ups.

Yes, those come to pumps with big containers as prepper survivalists are big problems.

My car was under a 1/8 tank and my wife has to travel 25+ minutes to and fro for work (I catch the train most days). It was ridiculous seeing all the long lines and people with gas cans. I'm sure some people needed fuel but I feel like most of the folks there were just topping off because of fear. I actually had to take off work because I spent Thursday night trying to find gas (picked up gas around 2 am).

Me and my wife started working from home to save gas as soon as we heard about this issue. ( My two car total drive together is 80 miles a day)
Used a bit on weekend for errands and kids activities.
Have not decided yet to top up the fuel as both cars have almost half tank left and don't want to take it away from people who might actually need it.
Will work from home till this issue resolve fully.

Didn't run. Thought through the whole thing and stayed home. Why should I, when I had enough to get me where I needed to go. There is plenty of gas on my side of town now, about ready for a fill up.

Most Lexus models now use regular unleaded. I think the whole premium only for Lexus was an attempt to show it as a upscale status symbol (because they are mostly toyota engines except maybe the LS and few other Lexus only engines) and they finally realized that it was a dumb idea.
