I'm seeing reports of only several days. Not weeks. And if everyone got into asking "is this trip necessary?" we'd all be in better shape gas wise.

Amen.

I drove around on my lunch break out of curiosity to see if there was really a panic and...yes, there is. I passed by four stations that were out of gas completely, and two more that had massive lines (a Race Trac and a QT).

I found a little gas station that I'd never ordinarily stop at that had a short wait. 10 minutes later I was topped off and on my way back to work.

Stay safe out there y'all. People are stressed.

I am increasingly grateful that I live walking distance from several places (and can actually walk to them without fearing for my life) and that I work from home.

That said, my wife will still have to drive to/from work, although we're fairly close.

The Ohio River network has plenty of product and gas is being rerouted our way. The refineries won't be closed for long. As soon as the water recedes teams will be testing them for issues and then cranking up production. This is mainly being driven by consumers and the media.

Yes, you're fortunate. Most people have to actually drive to work and most of us don't have the option to work from home.

Yup.

My kid needs to go to school 6 miles away, but other than that the only place we need to drive is work (store, gym, club park, parents all 0.5 miles away). And I won't be sad if I can't go cuz I'm out of gas.

I work 27 miles away, but I still only gas up monthly anyway.

Sadly, I know this. Sorry if it came across as "look at me". Wasn't that long ago that my round trip commute was over 50 miles. That burns through gas fast (even driving a small "efficient" car).

As a more newly developed metro area, DFW is spread out and has limited realistic public transit options, too.

Nah, I'm just jealous. I hate driving to work.
