I agree that ATL is a very strong contender but you seen to have an inflated idea of what ATL offers. The fact that you can fish trout there won't put the city over the top and while the ATL is a very big airport it's definitely not the best. There are plenty of airports that kick it's butt. Also, you might want to read your writing before you post. I've never heard of the Easter time zone. If you're gonna brag you need to bring it.

Lol. I can see Bezos now - "OMG - you can trout fish in this city! This contest is over."

Bragging on a Texas message Board, I'm stunned surely that doesn't happen ?
The only North American airports in the conversation with Hartsfield for being an international gateway are the big coastal airports like LAX & Newark and also Chitowns O'hara. And of course it is the worlds largest airport in terms of passenger traffic. Bezos is on record as stating a large international airport is very important.
I merely mentioned trout fishing as an example of the variety of outdoor recreational ops in the ATL area. In other words unlike other sunbelt citys there things to fish for besides Bass & Bullheads, not to mention the hunting ops.
And yes eastern time zone is a big deal for business purposes and I am in fact a terrible speller.

Believe me, few of the employees at the new Amazon sweatshop will have time to be doing much trout fishing.

I expect it will all come down to money - what location offers the best combination of local government incentives, low labor costs/large labor pool, and low entry costs?

Lots of amazon folks make big, big bucks and therefor have large disposable income, i.e., yes they will work long & hard but wouldn't call it a sweatshop kind of environment.
It will be a blue or maybe a purple state, so places like ATL and other red states are definitly long shots.
North Carolina should be a top candidate but they'e had so much well publicized political trouble I dunno what their chances are ? And no doubt about it, Jeff Bazos is a political animal.
Top candidates: Denver, Boston, SLC; Minneapolis, Toronto, D.C. area.

You can cross out Minneapolis. Did you see what they're offering? $3 million. Amazon probably spends more than $3 million a week just on coffee for the office.

Agree with all of your candidates except one. I have seen SLC mentioned a couple of times and that is just not going to happen.

Newark's offer of $7 billion in incentives is insane (I think?). Is the next largest number the $400 million from Chula Vista? How do you turn down $6.6 billion in financials?

I don't know why cities are saying how much they're offering. The Dallas Regional Chamber is keeping it under wraps, as they should at this point. Maybe other states have laws requiring the amount be publicized. I dunno.

Today's the deadline for bids, and the chamber has released a video pitch for DFW as part of our bid. I like it! (Note: the link or youtube is currently down.)
