They may be standing a little farther away from me, very serious, asking a ton of questions, hands across their chest, giving every indication through their body language and nonverbal cues that they really don't want to be there. If I go to a doctor who is very comfortable with gays they will usually be a lot more approachable and warm. They have no problem getting close to me the patient, touching me/conducting an exam, asking questions, and showing a genuine interest in me.

A gay doctor will also be less judgemental/more understanding of medical issues experienced by men (rather than writing it off as "well, you're gay so that's the problem). If I tested positive for an STD, there is less of a stigma in treating the issue in gay-friendly medical office (and as someone mentioned earlier, better access to new medicine) than if I went somewhere else where I get a lecture. I don't need a doctor telling me how to live my life. I'm there to get medical treatment.

Hopefully that clears everything up. I have heard of Dr. Pounders but his reviews on a few other sites are mixed. Does anyone else have any recommendations? Preferably in the north suburbs of Dallas? Thanks!
Gay patients have different needs than straight patients? You guys use different medications or something? Unless I'm donating blood, never had a Dr ask me what kind of sex I liked or who I date.

I only knew one gay guy that had a specific medical need but I won't go into that here. It's too graphic. But I've know some women to have the same issue so it's not just a "gay man" issue.

OP If I were you I'd find a PCP who is also something of a screening expert in STDs/infectious diseases and the several cancers overweight within gay male populations.

That's quite naive.

Thanks!
Go to Yelp.com and type in the words "Gay friendly doctors" and in the location box type in the word "Dallas" and a bunch of doctors names will come up, and reviews.
