My 8 year old TRANE XR15 is overheating and shuts off itself for the past two days. The tech stopped by yesterday and stated it's a bad motor. Replaced the motor and capacitor(just to be safe) and acid washed the coils. It ran for another 10 minutes before shutting off again. Thought the new motor might be a lemon, hence replaced it with another temp. unit (more powerful speed 1100 vs 850) causing more amperage to be pulled in as well.

No luck, ran for another 15 minutes, got overheated and shuts off. Tech stopped by for a third time, by then the unit was turned off already for couple hours and hence cooled down. Started the unit, ran for another 15-20 mins and shuts down again. Told me to repeat the cycle until 9pm or so. Once the temp outside drops hopefully it starts running again. I kept running the unit for 15minutes, take a break for 40 minutes and repeated until 11pm with no luck. I turned it off for the day.

Turned it back on again at 5AM this morning. Ran until 640 AM before getting overheated and shutting off.

What is going on here? Replaced motor twice, capacitor, acid washed, voltage looks normal. Is it time to replace the unit? The new motor cost $450. Now I feel like it may not be the motor. Should I have them reinstall my old motor? They took it away already.
