Agree on Terminal C

I am very surprised that terminal F will be so small, and built in a straight line. That will mean only on SkyLink stop/TSA checkpoint and parking access, and a lot of walking to get to the gates.

Yeah, it’s about redoing Terminal C. This Terminal F is about either new regional airlines coming in or overflow. Both Austin and San Antonio airports are expanding as well.

Terminal F is exclusively for AA expansion.

I wonder how much more expansion is really doable? That's certainly a lot of air traffic to handle there.

They need it, like yesterday. Glad this is getting off the ground.

I'm also relatively surprised that the terminal is only being built with 15 gates, but this may be a consequence of DFW's bigger long term issue being runway capacity during peak times. AA runs these huge banks of flights that all takeoff and land in close proximity to one another that causes this. My guess is that by the time Terminal F opens, AA will have to break up some of these banks and run a more rolling hub to smooth out those arrival/departure peaks. We'll see.

It's really impressive how large American has grown DFW. I don't particularly care for that airline but they are giving the locals so many options by relying on DFW to play such a huge role in their network

I just read that because of a new agreement between DFW and American Airlines, 1,000 additional flights will fly into/out of DFW. Here's the link:

They can get to 1,000 flights a day, but I doubt they can do it with a banked hub like they run today. It will probably shift to a more rolling hub a la ATL.

Still, that airport is a testament to good long-range planning and design. It isn't perfect, but it's a good example of past foresight paying big future dividends.
