OK, I was talking to a friend from NY and she was saying how hard it had been to find a good Reuben like back home. I immediately thought this might be the place to find out where she could go.

Keep in mind we're in Murphy so preferably something she can drive to without taking a day trip would be nice, but then again field trips are fun too, right?

I am not much of a sandwich man for restaurants, but Jason's Deli has Ruebens, and I think Baker Brothers does too.

I just go for their great soups or salads.

People swear by some of the food at the Monk - also you could try local institution Kuby's Sausage House for a day trip then you could then walk around Snider Shopping Plaza and take a tour of SMU.

Cyndii's Deli (sp?) on Central is supposed to be true to character of a NY deli w/ great sandwiches. It has been around FOREVER just never been myself. Is the deli down in Preston Center still there on Sherry Lane??? They had great sandwiches including Reuben's. Humperdinks makes an AWESOME Cuban.

I third the Monk and second Kuby's. Kuby's had a store and a restaurant. Authentic German food. It's really quite good! We BBQ'd a bunch of different brats from there last weekend. I really like the Chipotle Venison Brat. Spicy with tons of flavor.

I usually go to the Monk late and only drink but I have had the moules frites (and just the frites) and the killer mushrooms. But here's the food: The Old Monk :: Irish Pub in Dallas, Texas :: Food (http://www.oldmonkdallas.com/food.html - broken link)

I've been going to Kuby's since the mid-1970s and I still can't get enough of the kartoffelnsalat (potato salad). You can get a lot of wonderful things to take home there!

Y'all rock! It didn't even occur to me that Kuby's would have Reubens. But I'll definitely pass that and the Monk on to her.

Thanks!

One of the few places left that will actually give you a rare burger. Not say "ok rare" and serve it almost medium
