WOODROW WILSON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION RECEIVES $25,000 GIFT
TO CLASS OF 1991 SCHOLARSHIP FUND
DALLAS, Texas, September 20, 2011. Earlier this year, the Woodrow Wilson High School Class of
1991 established a scholarship fund with the Woodrow Wilson High School Community Foundation. The
scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving Woodrow Wilson High School senior who plans to
attend college. In September, a member of the Class of 1991 presented a donation of $25,000 to the
Scholarship Fund.
Richard H. Vitale, Founding President of the Foundation, and also a member of the Class of 1991,
expressed excitement concerning the donation. “We are incredibly thankful to this classmate and friend,
who wishes to remain anonymous,” says Vitale. “With the increased endowment to our class’ scholarship
fund, we have great dreams of enabling future Wildcats to continue their education with the
encouragement and financial assistance.”
Vitale also notes that the donor hopes the gift will be inspirational to other classmates as well. “Not many
people in the Class of 1991 are able to donate on such a generous scale,” says Vitale, “but any sized gift
will be put to good use. At some point we might increase the dollar amount or the number of scholarships
we grant each year.”
Further, Vitale and the donor hope this gift will inspire other alumni and community members to donate
generously to the Foundation. “While the Foundation administers a number of wonderful scholarship
funds,” Vitale stresses, “our larger mission is to identify and fund other needs in the public schools in the
Woodrow feeder pattern as well. There are so very many needs; and we are actively seeking funds to
plough back into the schools.”
Donations may be made online at the Foundation website: Donate or by
sending a check to P.O. Box 140062, Dallas, TX 75214. Vitale also encourages potential donors to
consider becoming a Cornerstone Partner with an ongoing monthly contribution. “We welcome inquiries
about being a Cornerstone Partner,” says Vitale. “It is a convenient way to ensure that private financial
support is available to our public schools for years to come.”
The Woodrow Wilson High School Community Foundation was created in 2009 and serves as a central
point for fundraising, grants, scholarships, and other programs and projects that benefit Woodrow as well
as the public junior high and elementary schools in its feeder pattern. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization registered with the Internal Revenue Service and is completely independent of the
Dallas Independent School District. For more information about Woodrow Wilson High School, contact
Kyle Richardson at 972-502-4400. For information about the Woodrow Wilson High School Community
Foundation, contact Richard H. Vitale at 214-702-1242.

The foundation is doing a great job. It seems every week or two they are announcing a new scholarship, a major donation or a college alliance.

The IB kids at Woodrow have trips planned this year to Costa Rica and China. Long Middle School has started offering Mandarin as part of its IB pilot curriculum and I hope it is expanded to Woodrow.

Yes Richard Vitale, a Woodrow alum and future parent, is doing an outstanding job with the foundation. He is a big wheel at BAML. This was in the Dallas News today -
