I can live in a freaking box, I just need to move somewhere downtown. I live between the oak lawn area and the airport and am tired of the ghetoooo. So I'm trying to find a place, it can be like 700 sq. ft. for all I care, I don't have a lot of stuff, for like 1k a month. My buddy is trying to get me in the mosaic but I have a feeling that isn't going to work.

Mosaic is one of the highest priced apartment buildings downtown. Some of the older buildings (1900 Elm, Davis Building, Kirby Building, Interurban, Manor House) are going to be the least expensive 'loft style' units but won't have some of the luxury amenities that newer places have. The more pricey options include DP&L, Gables Republic, Mercantile Place, Third Rail, and Mosaic.

My first apartment downtown was a 670 sq ft loft (with 12ft ceiling, plenty of room for just myself) for about $750/month. My current place is about $1/sq ft.

Downtown is a good place to live and it has really become its own neighborhood over the past few years. New restaurants are opening up and it's convenient to everything. Good luck in your search.

The Davis Building on Main is great. A friend lives in a loft there- probably 600sf with new bath & kitchen & good closets for just under $1000. It's right by the CVS, which is convenient!

Another friend lived in Manor House for a while, but I think he was paying closer to $1200 for a 1 bedroom. And the valet lost his car on more than one occasion!
