I guess you have never lived in the northern part of the USA. I recently moved from the Midwest to the Mid-Cities of DFW. And the people in this region are very friendly. And most of the customer associates in stores are friendly to not only the customer but their co-workers too; I was surprised at the level of friendliness.

They'd better be; that's why they're earning money.

that happens no matter where i go. dallas is no exception.
the way i fixed it is i found some independent people like me that dont need their clique. we dont own each other we enjoy each other and have mutual interests.
in crowd people need the crowd more than i do, often its bek they are scared and weak.

you say people are so unfriendly and were much friendlier in Austin. Because of your age, I would assume you were in college when you lived in Austin. College life is very different from the real world, I am sure you are finding that out. We lived in Dallas for 13 years and didn't find it unfriendly..Maybe you need to try a little harder to make friends and not do so much comparing.

By the way, did you ever decide where you wanted to live? that was your last post...seems you are not working in Addison, which is a great little town for the 20 somethings...you wanted to know where to live..

Hope you find what you are looking for in Dallas, if not, maybe you would be happier back in Austin..

Nita

Of course, we never hear that everything good in Texas is in Austin (oh, the best barbecue is in the hill country; the music scene is so much better in Austin; the architecture in Austin is far superior to Dallas and Houston, ad nauseam). Am I being a hypocrite and dogging on Austin? Of course not; it's a great place. I'm merely pointing out that a good number of the pretentious jerks I come across on these Texas forums just happen to be Austinites crowing about how much better their city is than everywhere else.

Pretentiuosness is blind to geography. If you dislike it in D/FW that much, well, we have not one but two I-35's; have a safe trip.

Not again....................

Maybe we can host a party/social for all of the people that seem to think they can't find friendly people here to get together and meet and make friends? However, who is to say those that have the hardest time finding friends and experiencing friendly behavior would be making the most friends in the first place. That could turn out to be one SNOOZE of a party except for the Dallasites having a rockin good time hosting it w/ each other. LOL!!!

I know some Austinite having California rubbing off on them, and they act like obnoxious people with superiority complexes putting down other places they go to ... talking about how Austin is better than Dallas, how people in Austin are greater than people in Dallas, etc. That kind of attitude certainly is a great way to make enemies.

Dallas is cliquey, but you can usually break into a clique. Find one you like and make the effort.
