I heard on the news that it would take 1-2 weeks straight of weather like this to bring us up to the level of rainfall we should experience for this year so far.

Most of the state is still in drought status and our lakes are still WELL below normal levels.

So...yeah, a couple of days of rain isn't going to magically make the drought disappear.

We need it, BAD! It's frustrating to not be able to do as many outdoor activities, but with years and years of drought, it's going to take A LOT more rain to catch back up. I just don't like the humidity. At 1 it was 86 degrees and 98% humidity. HELLO HOUSTON!

Haven't turned on the sprinklers in a few months yet my lawn is as green and lush as I've ever seen it for this time of year.

Most (but by no means all) of the rain the past several days seems to have missed where I live. Drought-buster?? NO.

At DFW Airport (the official precipitation measurement station) the gages currently indicate almost 9 inches below normal precip for the year. Several areas need more rainy days like today.

We need a lot of heavy rains, not slow soaking rain. Need the runoff into the lakes to recover. For example, Lake Granbury went up almost 6' in one day, but other lakes barely change elevations. The soaking rains do help the aquifers, but we need more. Hopefully this will continue.
