Although it appears we may fall short one or two days to the 100 degree days, our overall summer was hotter. Waco fared much worse, and they definitely got their hottest summer on record, although it is certainly up to debate at DFW.

Would of loved to get the official record though, although a break will certainly be nice
Nice comparison. With the higher lows in 2011 I'd say it's pretty equal for which year was overall the hottest.

So, it looks like we did tie the record for most (non-consecutive) triple-digit days for the period June thru August, but just not for the entire year. The record is 69 days and we are at 67 now as I understand it. Come on baby...at least two more days to tie and hopefully three more days to break the old record.

Yeah, and the average high was only 0.4 degrees hotter in 1980 whereas the average low was over 3 degrees hotter this year. It's definitely arguable as to which summer was hotter.

Brings a tear to my eye!

I plan on watching it come through on the Oklahoma Mesonet:

DFW "officially" didn't reach 100 degrees today per NOAA (99 was the recorded high). Looks like we may end up 2 days short of the 1980 record for 100 degree days of 69. We're currently at 67.
