Its always safer to get a job first. The job market is better here than in most parts of the country, but its probably better safe than sorry. Either way, my wife moved here with no job and got a good one within 3 weeks.

What are your reasons to relocate? My response would depend on those.

I'd ask the following which would hold true anywhere.

1. Where are you coming from?
2. What type of work are you in?
3. What will you be moving? (family, 4 bd house, 16 cats?)
4. What level of comfort are you looking for?

My general feeling is unless you're 19, can wait tables, and are willing to have 3 roomates don't move anywhere without a job first.

unless you're rich already ;-)

While it may be cheaper to live here, cost-of-living means zilch if you can't find a job. Believe it or not the unemployment rate here is almost 9%. We may be better off than some parts of the country but this isn't an employment nirvana.
