North of downtown, south of Frisco for schools and housing. Along the Dallas North Tollway, north of 635 for shopping.

Where will you be working? There are lots of nice areas with good schools and shopping scattered all over the DFW metro area. Having a short commute is a huge advantage!

I'm personally partial to Northeast Tarrant County...

Your place of employment is important if you plan on commuting to and from work. The Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area is quite expansive. Living in one area (for example: Rockwall) while working miles away in another (for example: Fort Worth) would make for a very long commute. Factors such as traffic congestion, inclement weather, or road construction would only add to your time spent on the road.

For housing, we need a little more information on what type of home you are looking for.

Do you plan on renting or buying?
What is your price range?
Do you want an older home in an established neighborhood or a newer residence?

Once we know some of your personal preferences, it will be much easier for us to be of assistance.

Nice places to live can be found throughout the DFW area and aren't necessarily concentrated in just one part of the metro.

I get so puzzled when people come on here asking for the best place to live. Don't they realize that Dallas is on the way to becoming the 4th largest metropolitan area with hundreds and hundreds of neighborhoods? Do they really come from places where there are just one or two "best" places to live? Talk about depressing and cultish.
