Southeastern thing is more like it. That's one thing many Texans probably wouldn't agree with. They'll take whataburger before checkers.

Most Texans won't eat whataburger either? I find that hard to believe. It's home grown and local. It was in Texas before any other burger chain. It's Texas based and multiple in just about every inch of Texas. It maybe expensive, but it's popular as heck throughout the state.

Oh and yes, krystals is Southern. Still a pretty mediocre place.

I remember eating at Checkers years ago in Chicago...it was one of those places we stopped at after the bars closed. I don't remember much else about them....

And there used to be a Krystal's in Denton but I heard it closed after I moved.

I tried Whattaburger tonight for the first time. It was so so. I'd eat it before McDonalds though.

$3 for a cheeseburger is too expensive? Just how cheap are you?

Most Texans dont eat Whataburger? You have to be joking. People here rave about it.

Exactly what I was thinking.

And there was a Krystal's on Garland Road back in the 1960's. Near where the very first MacDonald's in the area opened shortly afterward.

I live in a Southeastern city where people LOVE Krystal, and I hate, hate, HATE that place with the heat of a thousand fires and hot grease. And I know some locals here that don't care for them. I can't say that we're the majority, but I've had too many anecdotes of people like me that hate their burgers for it to be coincidental.

It's great after-bar food that kept me from being hungover the next day, but other than that, Krystal can kick rocks, HARD. They don't really agree with my digestive system either.

They don't nickname White Castle "gutbusters" for nothing, and I'll just leave it at that.

They had Whataburger when I lived in Florida and in Mississippi, and while their burgers are good, they do not agree with my stomach or intestines at all. Last time I ate at Whataburger, my colon was performing the halftime at the Bayou Classic. NOT fun.

I like their Breakfast Taquitos though. They also get a plus for not messing with my stomach. I know that Whataburger is practically a Texan institution, so hearing about "hardly any Texans eating there" is certainly news to me. And their no more expensive than Burger King or McD's.

Checkers? They're fries are so good, they make me want to slap my mama, but their burgers aren't that great.

I do like In-N-Out, but I've had burgers that are just as good as them in many parts of the country. That being said, I'm planning on going to California in the Spring and one of the first things I'm doing is going to In-N-Out and get a Double-Double with Grilled Onions and Cheese Fries.

I wish we did have Jack-In-The-Box here. The closest ones are in Greenville, Nashville and Charlotte from where I am.

Anyone like Steak and Shake? Their fries are like matchsticks, but their Shakes are sooooo good.

How El Pollo Loco skipped over Dallas and Houston and wound up here in the Atlanta area still remains a mystery to me, but I'm not complaining, LOL. May go there after the gym tonight.

its called being frugal. if i'm paying more than $5 for one meal, it needs to be something of quality, not fast food junk. especially when i can go over to mcdonalds and get a full, better tasting meal
off the dollar menu for that $3 i wouldve spent on one sandwich at whataburger

i believe youre from california, so youre used to spending an arm and a leg for stuff, but this is texas. get with the program
