How does the humidity in Dallas compare to that of Houston and Austins?
Austin is great, dry and low and Houston was pretty bad

Well, marketing would lead you to believe that one is WAY different than the other in terms of humidity, but it really has to do with combination of temperatures and timing.

DFW actually fares the best, with a morning average of 81% and an afternoon average of 58%.

Austin is second with 83% and 59%, respectively

Houston is third with 90% and 63%, respectively.

There are people that will tell you that their city is bone dry, but there is little variance when it comes to humidity between Dallas and Austin, because you're that far east. If you want dry you need to go to West Texas.

Don't kid yourself, Dallas only has moderately tolerable humidity when compared to Gulf Coast cities like Houston & New Orleans, compared to most other places it has horrible humidity.

Washington DC has horrible humidity compared to Dallas.

Dallas' afternoon summer humidity levels are among the lowest of any major city outside of the desert areas.

Compare dew points, not relative humidity if you are interested in comfort level.

Dew Points
20+C (68F) Oppressive
18C (64F) Sticky
16C (61F) Humid
13C (55F) Comfortable
10C (50F) Refreshing

It's all about dew points. Dallas has always been known for being humid hot and miserable. Many of the natives are a little defensive over it and throw numbers about. All their denial will never change the weather in Dallas. Simply........ It is what it is.

Out of 274 cities on the NOAA list, 199 of them have higher humidity levels than Dallas on a typical August afternoon.
