i grind my teeth and just about ground through mine, but can't afford $400-600 for one from the Dentist. I tried the W mart ones for $10ish and it's like wearing a mouth guard for sports, can't sleep with that.

Is there something in between?

What dentist is quoting you $400 to $600 for a night guard? A custom one could be had for less than $250! Keep calling around to find one who doesn't charge that much…

The first really good one I bought, my co pay was $400 but it lasted over 10 years. Now I don't have good dental, yeah I will call around.

My dentist charged me $35.00. He took a mold of my teeth and made it to fit my teeth perfectly. Have had no snoring or grinding problems at all since.

You are putting it in boiling water, molding and carving it to fit right? DH has used these for years and now can't sleep without it. The savings were worth it. But of course you need to do what works for you.

Prices are probably somewhat regional, but $400-500 for a custom nightguard fabricated by a dentist is the going rate around here. I think they are overpriced, but the reality is the OTC ones suck bad and can even cause orthodontic-type problems creating open bites or other tooth movement. I'd probably just pony up the $ and get one from a dentist.

Because they don't work for everyone.

That is the one that I returned, just not comfortable. I saw one online a couple of weeks ago that was $79 can't find it now? but it has 30 day return so I will try that once I find it.

My dentist suggested I just use my bottom bleach tray - without the bleach, obviously. I've been using it for about a month and haven't destroyed it yet. I previously had a pricey custom nightguard that lasted about 10 years but eventually gnawed it to death. Worth a try if you have one.
