Has anyone gone to Costa Rica for dental work? I refuse to pay 13,000 total for two implants here in the USA. Only those who have done this need reply, thanks!
My wife had dental work done in Bolivia, and the dentist there was much better than any she had ever had in the USA, but care needs to be taken to find a good one -- a lot of local dentists are pretty basic The US Embassy in any country will supply you with a list of medical practitioners in country who have been recommended by Americans and can be expected to at least meet US standards. In any third world country, even the top dentists will be a fraction of the US price, and are at least as good, if not better than the American average.
I also had a filling replaced by a dentist in Bangladesh, who specialized in wealthy patients, and he was excellent. He was a friend of mine, so he did it free. My wife also had dental work done in Progreso, Mexico, and she is delighted with the results, has had absolutely no problem now three years later with a permanent bridge. . She also had a couple of fillings replaced by the only dentist in town in southern Mexico, and that was competent.
It is scary how much dental work costs in the States. I have looked into dental tourism before and it sounded like fun - you can combine dental work you need to have done with a vacation somewhere. I have even heard there are some places in Europe that are good for dentistry. Everyone's teeth is basically the same (biologically) and the dentist only needs to know teeth. I haven't been to another country for dental work before, but I would consider it. My main concerns are hygiene and safety (if they have the same high sterilization/purity standards we have here, but then again how about that homegrown dentist that spread disease to his patients with dirty instruments - I forgot his name but it was recently, in the MidWest, I think).
Dear BoggerAnna: No, I didn't want the work done in Mexico, just Costa Rica but I'll figure out where the post should go to get more exposure. And it's okay coolgato :-)
Thanks for trying everybody!
God bless you...

I hope you find the information that you need and that everything works out. Going to the dentist is not an enjoyable experience, especially more painful when seeing the prices they charge. Good luck!
