The only permanent change is to avoid seriously sticky food like Sugar Daddy, See's suckers, and salt water taffy that could pull the crown off. The dentist can always put it back on but there is a risk of swallowing it. I have about 6 now, but 4 are implants. With the temp on, also avoid rustic French bread crust or anything else hard.

My dentist tells his patients "They're teeth, not tools." IOW you shouldn't be using them to crack nuts, etc. My sister broke a front tooth biting into a hard chocolate bar, trying to break off a piece with her teeth. After a certain age teeth can be more susceptible to fracture. I treat mine very tenderly. I have 4 crowns, can't tell them apart from regular teeth. No problem flossing around them.
