I'll be in Denver, in and around the Colorado Convention Center between June 21 and June 27. I'll probably be doing a LOT of work but I expect some downtime as well. Any suggestions on places to check out, food suggestions? I'm pretty flexible on food, not really eating carbs but that can be waived given the amount of physical labor I'll be doing (hauling boxes, etc etc).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Food:
Biker Jim's (Gourmet hot dogs)
Euclid Hall (Belgian beer hall)
Watercourse (very yummy vegetarian)

Do not get pizza. It's not worth it.

Things to see - depends what time of day you're free and your transportation.

Watercourse, eh? I've been itching for a good Vegetarian spot - there's only one really good one near my job, the rest give vegetarianism a bad name. Makes me glad I do eat meat, or else I'd starve!

Someone was telling me about a place called Illegal Mike's or something? Sells Mexican food. You guys ever been there?

Yup. I'm already crawling Yelp for suggestions, but I know there are places so good that its customers don't put them on blast on places like Yelp so it remains a 'best kept secret'... a fair number of areas local to me here in the DC/MD/VA area are good examples.

"Jazz at Jack's"

What are you doing out in Denver? Moving servers into or out of your data center?

It is Illegal Pete's. There is one on 16th street mall. Best big burrito place around.

Watercourse is excellent. Check out the menu online. The sweet potato and black bean tacos are amazing!

Illegal Pete's is kinda meh, imho. I mean I like it, but it's kinda like Chipotle. Not gonna blow you away. I could be blaspheming here though

If you can find a good place for green chili, you should definitely go with that.

Go to Z Cuisine in the highlands and get the absinthe drip. Great vibe and small, unknown place.

Also, for the best night view of the city go to the rooftop bar at Linger or Vita and grab a drink and apps if you have time.

The rooftop bar at the Hyatt (Peaks Lounge) across from the convention center as the best view for sunset on the mountains.

Other highlands restaurants are really good too like Root Down, DUO, Gallop Cafe and Venue. I agree with someone who said Euclid Hall. Pretty cool sausage and beer selection. In East downtown be sure to check out Steubens and Olivea.

In downtown the 9th Door and Vestas (right next door to each other) are really good for food and atmoshere. Squeaky Bean which just moved downtown is pretty good too and The Kitchen just opened on 16th St Mall which is supposed to be quite good as well.
