I'd have to say that it's a much easier thing to predict than the stock market if profit is on your mind.

I have old friends in Barnum who report that the neighborhood's really coming along. With some help- about four years ago, Home Depot conducted a major rehab project on their block and several others, bringing all the homes up to code, and virtually rebuilding theirs. Barnum is adjacent to downtown, well-connected to the highways and just walking distance from Mile High Stadium, so it deserves the attention that downtown's other inner-ring suburbs have gotten. The neighborhood has a long way to go, though. It's always been a workingman's neighborhood. Victorians and charming Tudors are absent here. Considering the fine old homes lost to the condo boom in Lower Highland, I wish the little-box loft developers had scraped and built here instead.

Agree, but Barnum lacks the retails strips that Highland has.

I've been eyeing up houses in Barnum. If I buy it will most likely be there, as long as it's not too far south of Colfax or Hwy 6. The only issue I have is that I have to drive to Tower and Colfax way out in Aurora for work. So it's either take 70, or take Colfax all the way across town. Either way, I'm looking at a 45 min - 1 hour commute.

East Colfax/Aurora area looks good too. Good for commuting to work, but I drive to Golden to go mountain biking way too often for it to be convenient.

So my battle is either having a 1 hour commute between home and work, or having a 15 min commute to work, but having to drive up to an hour to get to the foothills for activities in the evening. Home quality/values are almost identical. But I feel that Barnum will get developed and go up in value before East Colfax. I also go to downtown a lot, and Barnum is within biking distance on the trials. East Colfax would be a 5-7 mile bike ride down residential streets, which isn't all that fun.

Exactly my point. I don't want to be too far away (south) from 6th.

The southern end of Barnum is Alameda (9 blocks south of 6th Ave.).
