I'm moving from Colorado Springs to Denver. In fact, I just signed a lease for an apartment today. OH YEA! I'm pretty excited. I've been dealing with my banking situation in the springs (Bank of America), but I'm looking for one that is actually in the state!

So!
What do you guys think that works best?

Thanks for the help.

When I was looking for my business, I checked out 1st Bank, Key, Chase, Bank of the West, Wells Fargo, US Bank, WaMu, Wachovia and Compass.

I ended up going with Compass for my business accounts but when I was talking to the woman who worked there about how Wells' small business plans were awful, she agreed and said they'll even admit that. She apparently used to work for Wells and said that they really focus on personal checking (whereas Compass focuses on small biz). Might be worth checking out what they offer.

If you want a bank that is locally owned and in the state, then I would suggest a credit union. They offer the same services as a so-called "bank", or as I call them, "thieves, crooks, and bandits" run by the New York Financial Center of Fraud and Corruption, abetted by the FEDS and the private secret society of the rich and powerful: The Federal Reserve Bank.

The biggest in Denver is Bellco. https://www.bellco.org/index.asp? (broken link) It is owned by the members. There are also many other credit unions to choose

and offer branch banking

Agreed. Our personal accounts are through a credit union. They offered higher interest rates and free interest checking. Their mortgage offerings are pretty good too.

People seem to like:
1st Bank
Bank of the West
Compass

Avoid at all costs (I bank at one of these and am not happy)
Chase
Wells Fargo
USBank

I like livecontent's suggestion of a credit union. I plan on switching to one soon. However, I will say, Bank of America was pretty good to me and it was hard to leave them when I moved to CO.

Thanks for all your help everybody. I think i'll be looking into a credit union since it seems to offer just as much as the big banks and is a way of supporting my new hometown by going local .

Default denver banks and wholesale clubs

What are the popular banks in Denver? Is there a Bank of America chain?

As for wholesale stores....is there a BJ's? Or is it Costco or Sam's Club?

Thanks.

Funny enough, there are ZERO Bank of America branches here. There are a few mortgage offices and ATMs though....

I haven't seen a BJ's in I don't know how long, all Costco and Sam's

First Bank was suggested when we moved here. That's who we went with. There seems to be one on every corner, in our area, anyway. There are both Sam's Club and Costco. Unfortunately, all are about 8-12 miles from us.
