Killer game tonight. The team has clearly turned a corner. They could have easily made the playoffs if a close early loss had gone their way.

They lost a game two weeks ago against Carolina they needed to win. Relying on other teams to lose to advance is not the way to do it.

Got to shake up the management starting with Ron "Dead" Wood. He was a long time Ford family assistant and why they made him the President of the team is mind boggling. They need football guys running the team if they are trying to win not bean counters.

Detroit is a big market, team should be winning more.........heck the Bengals made it to the Superbowl last year!

This is true, but there's been undeniable progress. I question how sustainable it will be.

We are talking about ownership that fired Jim Caldwell for going 9-7 so that Matt Patricia could go 4 and 12 for three years. The Jacksonville Jaguars, a team in a market less than 1/5th the size of Detroit (when factoring secondary markets) has a higher net worth than the Lions. There is no excuse for that. The only explanation after the last 60+ years of fecklessness is ownership malfeasance at this point.

At this point Lions fans basically have Stockholm Syndrome. They cheer for moral victories. They need to stop giving the Fords money so they sell the team, and potentially competent ownership can step in.

Chris Spielman, the gritty, tough Linebacker that played for the team from 1988-95, has been brought on in a major advisory role, and he may have something to do with the improvement of the Lions. They went from 3-13-1 to 9-8 in one season. The head coach/GM combo of Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes looks to be really promising so far. It will be fascinating to see who they draft and sign in the off-season and whether the momentum from their 8-2 finish can carry over to the 2023 season

If, and it's a big "if", the Fords sells the Lions, who'll be interested to buy them besides possibly Dan Gilbert or the Illitch family?

Anybody who has the ego and the money to pick up an NFL franchise at a discount.

The following values are estimates from around the web, late 2022...

The top team in value is the Dallas Cowboys at $8.0 billion.

The least valuable team is the Cincinnati Bengals at 3.0 billion.

The Detroit Lions clock in at $3.1 billion.

But the Ford family isn't about to sell the Lions...and the NFL can't force an owner to sell, especially if said owner controls a company that spends about $100 million or more annually on advertising during football games.

Someone would probably buy the franchise and move them to another city.

Maybe the DeVos family would like to move them to Grand Rapids. Although "Grand Rapids Lions" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

LOL. Well the Devos's certainly could afford to buy them. Love or hate the Devos's they are pretty business savvy and thankfully would never do that(Not to mention the NFL would never allow that). They've owned the Orlando Magic for 32 years and have kept them firmly planted there for a reason.

I agree with others that the Fords unfortunately aren't going anywhere. Though I'd challenge the notion that they would ever be moved even if they were purchased by an out of area team. Detroit and it's secondary markets are just too big. It wouldn't make any business sense.
