I just wanted to post this here i hopes of helping someone else with this same problem...

I have not been able to get my morning blood sugar below 125 since diagnosed with diabetes in November. My own Dr. had referred me to a Daibetes Management Doctor and I was told that this just might be my 'pattern'. It has been in the 140's and 150's but all other readings were fine. I finally went back to my regular Doctor who also was not happy with my blood pressure at 138/98. She took me off Triamterene/HCTZ and put me on Altase. The very next day my morning sugar reading was 118 and my blood pressure was 117/77!! Even though it is only 2 days I feel so much better and I didn't even think I felt bad in the first place! I guess it has been so long since I didn't feel my best.
Just wanted to pass this along!

yes, there is a definite relationship between diabetes and hctz. It WILL make a diabetic a brittle diabetic...ie not able to control your sugar levels. If you have a family history of diabetes and are put on this drug, it may force you into becoming a diabetic and once you stop the drug, you will remain one. DOCTORS....please do not shorten the lives of your patients by making them become metabolic syndrome patients. STOP THE INSANITY.

You might want to consider an insulin shot after dinner. It will control that early morning high. And, insulin is what your body needs and it is very cheap compared to all of those expensive oral drugs.
Also, the oral drugs are making your other organs to work overtime to make up for your insulin-resistant cells.

125 isn't seriously high. It would be nice to be a little bit lower, but many Doctors will say you are doing very well with a AM reading of 125.
