Neither really, but if I HAD to choose, I would choose low fat. Carbs are absolutely essential to those who are active and exercise regularly. The thing is, it MUST be good carbs and not bleached empty carbs like white rice and white pastas. Wheat pastas and brown rice are the way to go.

I think they will both work but for me, low fat is miserable. I do better on low carb and I feel more satisfied.

Miserable how? As in you feel like you are depriving yourself of flavor? Miserable in that it makes you physically feel that way? Miserable in that you dont feel as though you enjoy the food as much?

what low fat diet are we talking about? Ornish? Its kinda hard to judge when we dont know what people have in mind.

If "low fat" means "treat even olive oil as poison, and substitute carbs instead" its not very effective as a way to eat healthily or lose weight. Its also something I never hear advocated.

AFAICT its mostly a strawman for low carb advocates.

Once again the most popular non low carb plan is WW, which effectively restricts ALL calories (the usual caveats about "free" veggies and fruits) and ENCOURAGES the eating of healthy oils.

I`m talking a low fat diet as we did once before, that seemed to be working great for us, but then we moved, and messed everything up for about 6 months.. meh.
Low fat diet has always worked for me.. Tuna, bread, beans, fruit, veggies, fish, chicken breasts, egg whites, are just a few to come to mind. Cereal.

Does anyone do Pritikin anymore? It was a pretty effective low fat program in the 80s.

I did the Pritikin with my mom in the 1980's. I didn't really need to lose weight, but I wanted to lose 10 pounds anyway. My mom was overweight, so we thought it'd be nice to do this together. I ended up gaining 10 pounds, and my mother decided that dieting was stupid and totally not family-friendly.

We were living the high life, hogging it up on pork rinds, lobster with butter, steak, and spinach in oil and garlic. Just no bread, no white flour, no wheat, no rice, no carbs to speak of, and no restrictions on fat. And I got fat. And so did mom. Conclusion: fat makes you fat *if you are not restricting yourself*. And Pritikin definitely didn't restrict us, and lobster tastes GOOOOOOOOD in drawn butter, and we could eat as much of it as we could afford to buy, so we bought plenty.
