I am certain I want to get a fitbit. Heard many good reviews about it, especially concerning motivation. Was almost sure I was going to get the hr charge. I brought it up with husband and he wants to gift me with one. I did a brief research, comparing the charge vs. charge hr and really had trouble deciding from there. Husband insists on getting the charge since he doesnt see a major difference aside from the hr.

So I would like opinions from fitbit users on both models. Is it worth spending more money on the hr charge or is the charge just as good? Are there any models that beats both of them that is within the budget range of 150? I'm not a fan of wearing watches so not an area i want to splurge on. Thanks.

I got the Charge HR over the Summer. I specifically wanted the heart rate monitor as that's what tells you how many calories you burn throughout the day. The heart rate will work intermitantly if the charge is low, so make sure you have it charged at least 25% if you want a consistant reading. It motivates me to have so many active "fat burn" minutes a day. I have it on my non-dominant hand, but I also talk with my hands so I know about 200-500 steps a day are from talking too much.

Being a Realtor, I spend a lot of the day making phone calls. It's gotten me to get up and walk around the house when I'm making those calls. A 10 minute conversation can be 1000+ steps.

If you search on your local Facebook swap groups, you could probably find someone who received it as a gift and willing to sell between $100-120 as I see a lot on my area page. I paid the full price, and it was a birthday present to myself!

I have a Charge HR. The difference between the Charge and the Charge HR is the heart rate monitor. IMO it is worth an extra $20 to have the heart rate monitor. Otherwise you are just counting steps. You can get a step counting app on your phone for free.

The HR monitor gives a much better indication of how hard you are working when you work out. Not all steps are equal. I really like the Charge HR. If found that it makes me hyper aware of when I am being very sedentary and makes me get up and move.

I had the HR and Surge and they preformed well. But I recently ditched Fitbit, and went back to Garmin (Fenix 3).

Thanks for all your responses. The husband got me a Fitbit hr a few hours ago. I charged it and it's powered on, wearing it right now but somehow can't get it to pair with my phone. The app says I need to press on the power button to pair it, and it looks simple but it looks like it can't find my Fitbit. I have the Fitbit right next to the phone, so really don't know what I am doing wrong. Maybe the husband will figure it out when he gets home.

My husband got me one, too. I was glad since the bodymedia that I loved is no longer supported.

Doing a double tap without it on your wrist should get it to speak with your phone with the app opened.

so far loving this thing. Dont know how accurate it is, as far as tracking cal and counting steps, but it should be close to the truth right? It does make me feel like moving more! Hr is a bonus. I love its app too. I can log everything in advanced. Like today, my future meals totals a little under 1200. I know there are other apps where i can log stuff, but the fitbit app is laid out well.

My wife has had the charge for a couple of weeks, and she absolutely loves it. At my age and with the heart problems that run in my family I will be getting the HR if I ever get one.
