I would like to add green tea to my eating plan (I hate the word diet!). I've read that it has other health benefits, too.

Yes, I'm also watching meal portion sizes, eating more fiber, walking, etc.

Are there any brands in particular you thought were helpful for weight loss and/or tasted great?

It's okay to comment on other teas, as well. I'm tired of plain water and would like some variety. Herbal teas won't add calories, unless I sweeten them with honey.

I drink a lot of green tea, but I am not particular about the brand. I usually just buy Trader Joe's green tea bags.

When I get tired of drinking it plain, I throw in another, flavorful type of tea. For a while I was making a pot of tea with two green tea bags and one peppermint tea bag.

Now, I've switched out the peppermint for ginger, which I love. Ginger is supposed to be good for weight loss, too.

One more tea I really enjoy is Yogi Egyptian Licorice tea. It's so sweet and spicy, it's almost like a dessert drink for me, though it contains no sugar. But if you don't like the taste of black licorice, you won't like it.

Great suggestions, Saibot. I love licorice! I hadn't thought of putting several flavors together.

The Tazo Zen is pretty good, IMO. Nice little hint of mint which compliments the tea.

If you're going out to a Starbucks or whatever, their Jade Green Mountain Citrus (or somesuch - I can never remember the name) is really good. Like the Zen, but more minty.

After years of "tea hopping", I've pretty much settled two types of teas: Gunpowder green tea and Jasmine tea. Both raw dry leaves (loose leaf), not bagged. Brewed the Chinese way, not Japanese.

I don't like the taste of green tea. To me it tastes like gin I prefer lemon tea, chai tea, or black currant tea. Bigelow and Twinnings are my favorites. I'm not sure about the health benefits of green tea but the health benefits of losing weight vastly outnumber those of green tea. Oh, and one other thing. Loose tea is ridiculously expensive compared to bagged tea unless you drink enough tea to float a ship, especially if you shop at Teavana. That place is the Starbucks of tea shops.

I like Trader Joe's organic green tea. You can actually taste some flavor in there. Some say it's too strong, but I like it.

Try Aldi's green tea. It's one of the best, IMO. the brand says "Benner", but it's Aldi's brand. They have regular green tea and also green tea with ginger. Both are excellent and I think they are $1.29 for 20 bags.
