You can blame our modern food supply for the obesity epidemic. Eat single ingredient foods, fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. Do not eat wheat period or any processed food item. You will find it quite difficult to gain very much weight.

WHY CONVENTIONAL DIETING MUST FAIL

What is so special about the human brain?

The key to our amazing brain size is cooking - which is also our bane - the source of our obesity. But since the BRAIN demands to be fed, no amount of will power will defeat it, in the long run.
. . . .
Any weight loss regimen involves consuming less calories than what one burns.
According to the video, our larger primate brain disproportionately consumes those calories. If it is deprived, eventually, it will DRIVE the body's systems to DEMAND feeding.

For some, the only respite from that incessant demand (craving, bingeing, etc) is a high fat diet when keto-adapted.

I suspect that our current obesity epidemic is the direct result of the public policy of condemning fats and replacing them with carbohydrates. There are some who thrive on high carbs and won't gain weight. But by observation, it appears that the vast majority react poorly to such a dietary regimen.

Likewise, there are some who will not respond well, when on a ketogenic diet (81% fat, 15% protein, 4% carb). Only by trial and error, can one find what is suited to them.

You know, I think this is a primary source of all the argument among dietitians. What works so well for me doesn't work for you, and visa versa, and no one can believe it.
