I think we should differentiate between an occasional hunger pang, and a more noticeable and longer lasting feeling of hunger.
I think it is normal and reasonable to feel an occasional hunger pang, and sometimes I feel a small one before going to sleep. (1-2 times/week) Oddly I am not hungry in the morning and usually eat a late breakfast.
I agree that if you are hungry frequently, or worse, all the time, that you are overdoing your caloric restriction and should increase your food consumption.
The whole idea is to entice our bodies to convert some of that fat into energy, and that is how we end up losing weight. I don't mind infrequent pangs of hunger and I'll eat more if they ever appear more often.
