For me I refuse to limit what I can eat. It's all about portion control and calorie management and staying active and if I want to eat a Twinkie I'll eat that twinkie
And I will second this response. My body works better when I incorporate carbs - complex and simple. It also works better for my quality of life. I lost weight and kept it off by eating from all the food groups. If I must eliminate a food group it would be animal protein. That is much easier for me than doing Atkins, which I have done - and it was awful.

No never obese. I lost 40 lbs. I do think for the morbidly obese a ketogenic or something similar may be the way to go in the beginning, because dropping pounds is more important than anything else. But for others it is up to them to determine what will work for them in the long run. And the long run is important because you need to live with the way you are eating.

Yes, it is the fact related to the Gliadin found in wheat that tricks the brain into thinking it isn’t full. Not found in any fruits and vegetables.

I've never been obese and ate lots of complex carbs (beans, quinoa, farro, etc.).

Heh, I was obese because I simply ate too much and never worked out. I wish I could pin it on one thing, but I ate jumbo sized portions of everything - fat, protein, carbs. I lost weight when I scaled back and started working out. As for health vs. weight, well like you said in the other thread, losing excess weight in and of itself is a big step in the right direction. However, my numbers have also been great now so I'm not sure why I would change anything.

Are you sure it's not due to the fact that Aliens abducted Nixon?

Well then you are a freak of nature - eating all those healthy, gasp, carbs! Don't you know all carbs are seriously bad for you? And modern wheat, OMG don't eat that whatever you do.
