The rest of the time I live on less than 25 carbs a day. And I work out 5 to 6 hours a week. Just normal activity the rest of the time.

Wow. How do you do that?

I eliminated added sugars, increased fiber and protein, and reduced my carbs to about 200/day (I was at least triple that prior, plus the quite regular sugar binge).

And recently I started to intermittent fast -- currently doing a 16:8 (I started at 12:12 and slowly moved towards 16:8). I even did a 20:4 this past week....

If all I had was a banana for breakfast and an apple for lunch, I would pass out. Seriously, my stomach would be burning and growling like crazy.

I am desperate to lose 20-40 pounds, but I am so busy sitting on my butt working from home. I was thinking of hiring an in house personal trainer, maybe from some Escort Service lol BTW I live alone with 3 cats no kids no roommates

I get this. Every time I try to go back to eating normal, like other people, the pounds pack on quickly. I'm also around 25 carbs or less most days, meat, seafood, eggs, vegetables. Filling, simple and keeps me healthy and at a good weight.

Diet is 90% so you can lose weight without ever exercising. However exercise is key for overall health, confidence, and the extra calorie burn. Why not take breaks and go or a run. If you dont run you could start a Couch to 5k or something like that. No need to hire a personal trainer. It would be a waste of money if you dont have your diet in order AND a set routine of exercise. When thats in play a trainer can help you with new exercises and form.

I have limited my portions and I stop eating the minute I feel satisfied no matter how delicious the food is. I limit carbs, very little sugar, no soda or any sweet drinks except once in a while. I rarely eat fast food and if I'm forced to by time constraints I have a broiled chicken sandwich or a Wendy's salad with chicken. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week for an hour or so. I've lost 25 pounds in the last 2 years and still have 10 to go to be at an ideal weight for my age & height.

I allow myself one cheat day which I rarely use and if I have a sweet craving I have one Ghirardelli dark chocolate square. When I want toast I have Ezekiel toast which is sprouted grain and also use Ezekiel cereal.

I cut out all junk.. biscuits, sweets, cheese, crisps.. ice cream....I cant do without bread though.. so thats my sin...but four slice a day with tuna or cottage cheese.. I now eat quite a lot of fruit with very low fat yogurt.. as cut fruit takes much longer to eat and is filling.. I have this twice a day when I feel like something sweet....I also drink Kefir milk the lower fat variety as its good for you and your immune system and filling.. and says helps keep the weight off.... I also drain a can of beans to get most of the sauce of as this is good for you and filling on toast, Im honestly never hungry and have kept the weight off now for nearly two years.. I should really be losing a few pounds more for my height but at my age 71 its not good to lose too much as it shows more on the face... so Ill stick with my 142pounds or thereabouts.. Two years ago I was about 18pounds heavier, now its gentle exercise and taking the dog out more for fast walks..Keeping it off seems to be more difficult than actually losing the weight. I wasnt sure which way to go myself at first, but this suits me....and if I feel in a sugary mood Ill have a low fat hot chocolate, which takes away the cravings instantly but only one a day...Plenty of good water too, cut the juice and cut the alcohol or only on special occassions... Seems tough but even the rich and famous have to do it hahaha so it makes it feel easier...I have small dinners a few times a week. but about a third of the portions I used to eat .. Fish is great as is chicken but try to do without the sauces, mayo etc..or use little.. Its worked for me..

I've made sure to stock my closet with nothing but small sizes, so that forces me to have to maintain my weight.

As a 40+ year old woman, a lot has changed. I have to work out and eat right most of the time or the weight easily comes back on. I don't overly restrict and have maintained a once a week no holds barred day for two years now BUT I do make healthier choices more often than not and try to eat nutritious food like whole grains, legumes, fruit, veggies and lean meats. Eating those things, I just feel better. A week of junk food leaves me feeling miserable even though I enjoyed it from a mental standpoint.

I had this same problem also. I was constantly hungry and often got up in the middle of the night to eat. I literally felt like I was always stuffing food in my mouth.
If you aren't already, you may find that after a few weeks of regular exercise (5-6 days per week), that your ability to self-regulate at meal times improves. You blood sugar levels become more even and your cravings become less.
If you are already exercising regularly, try meal prepping. This way you have a good idea of how many calories you are taking in for the day ahead of time. Then you can eat strategically. For example, I found that I am more hungry toward the end of the day, so I would fast in the morning, eat a little more at lunch. But I would save a portion of my lunch to eat with my dinner so I could get some sleep.
You might find that exercising early in the morning also helps reduce your appetite for the rest of the day.
[i]The Volumetrics Eating Plan[i] by Barbara Rolls, PhD was helpful for me as well.
If all else fails, use distraction/work to steer your mind away from your hunger.
