Definitely don't eat more during eating hours, calories still matter with IF. The hunger you get used to and it does become easier. Just keep your self busy in the mornings, and drink black coffee/tea!
I did a 17 hour fast yesterday. Was aiming for 18, but after walking 4.5 miles I was really, really, really hungry and I didn't want to hold out for another hour. Good day, with another birthday party!
Weekend chaos is now done, time for this week's chaos!
how much fasting do you need to qualify? I generally stop eating at around 4-5PM and my evening meal is always light (not a real dinner). So I think I get at least 13-15 hours in every night. I am not trying to do IF, just curious.
A 16 hour fast is the minimum for optimal results.
But I used to eat 16 hours a day and only 'fast' for 8 hours. So I don't judge someone else's fasting length! A 14 hour fast is fine by me, and better than a 12 hour fast which is better than a 10 hour fast, etc....
Wow, you do longer ones than I do.
There are naysayers that swear that you're doomed to a life of dysfunctional eating habits, but if it's working for you then carry on.
Conventional wisdom would argue that. The argument against extended fasts due to increased chances of binge-eating and whatnot. I was doing OMAD and 36-hour fasts back in '11-14 and it worked great. It just seemed intuitive for me. I'm not a binge eater at all and my relationship with eating habits/routines is overhauled by practicing IF and periodic EF. At this time, 4-5 days seems to be my sweet spot for extended fasts.
18 hour fast yesterday, but we went out to dinner with a friend last night and my feeding window was an hour longer. But a good time was had!
Not sure where today's fast will land - hopefully somewhere between 16-18 hours.
