I did Keto two separate times for long periods of time and found that I was completely depleted. I had no energy to even do my daily activities. Our brains need carbs to function and so does our body. I believe that if you eat anything in moderation (unless you have an allergy) you can maintain a healthy and happy balance of foods you love! You don't need a drastic diet such as keto that cuts food groups and depletes your body of overall energy.
Did it 2 times in 2 years.
Both times I ended up in er for kidney stones.
Granted I was skinny AF trying to pass those stones, but I don't want to even consider a 3rd time.
And yes I gained it all back plus some

That may be the case for you, but I've found myself having more energy on keto. Your brain will function just fine on the ketones your making too. As a matter of fact, the keto diet has been shown to help people with brain disorders like Alzheimer's or epilepsy.

You have to be fat adapted to switch fuel and function well on Keto. That takes about 4 to 6 weeks. Many dieters are not that dedicated or strict enough to ever actually switch over, hence the bad side effects people get, i.e. low energy.
These are some of the health benefits reported from a Ketogenic diet.
In addition to Diabetes....
Quote:
Heart disease: The ketogenic diet can improve risk factors like body fat, HDL cholesterol levels, blood pressure and blood sugar Cancer: The diet is currently being used to treat several types of cancer and slow tumor growth Alzheimer's disease: The keto diet may reduce symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and slow its progression Epilepsy: Research has shown that the ketogenic diet can cause massive reductions in seizures in epileptic children Parkinson's disease: One study found that the diet helped improve symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Polycystic ovary syndrome: The ketogenic diet can help reduce insulin levels, which may play a key role in polycystic ovary syndrome Brain injuries: One animal study found that the diet can reduce concussions and aid recovery after brain injury Acne: Lower insulin levels and eating less sugar or processed foods may help improve acne.

Out of all the different way of eating I monkey around with, Keto makes me feel the best
mentally and physically.
I believe you can be healthy with various ways of eating, as long as it
is a complete diet, that is high-quality. Of course avoid overeating and binge-eating.
I was fully in keto within a week of starting the diet. At least according to those pee sticks they sell.
Being in ketosis is not the same as being fat adapted. I am almost always in ketosis because I fast (OMAD) plus I do keto. It's a lifestyle for me. If I was to cheat, I could get back in ketosis within a day or two at most again, because I fast.

What Is Fat Adapted?
Plainly put, “fat adapted” is the metabolic state your body is in once you’ve been in ketosis long enough that your body has efficiently transitioned from burning carbs/sugar for energy to burning fats from your food, body-generated fats, and your stored body-fat reserves for energy.
When you first started the keto diet and vastly reduced your carb intake, your body kicked into high gear to burn off all your remaining carbs and glycogen stores. Then, when carbs were no longer an option, it began tapping into your excess fat stores for energy. After four weeks or more, your body is getting used to living off of fat, or becoming “fat adapted.”
In this state, you’ve pretty much lost your cravings for carbs, feel full faster at mealtimes, and stay feeling full longer, which inspires you to eat less and still feel great. You’ll also find that, once fat adapted, if you happen to have a little higher carb intake one day, it won’t affect you or your ketone and blood-glucose numbers as much as it did while you were transitioning from a high-carb diet.
You know what? I don't have any problem with the Keto diet. I personally think that whatever solution that is out there for weight loss (that has worked for other people) can also work for you if it were used the right way with a positive mindset that it has to work.
I think everyone here has or would want to buy a car but, do you know how many car accidents do occur per year only in the US? It's a huge number! However, this doesn't mean that you will be involved in a car accident if you just decided to buy one. Isn't it?
Thank You
