I have heard that it is best to eat when you first wake up and stop eating a couple hours before you go to bed? Is that accurate or does someone have better advice?
My personal experience has been to drink only water upon waking [I will eat breakfast an hour or so later] and to stop eating around 7:00 PM [I go to bed around midnight]. I might have a cup of tea before going to bed but no food. This has helped me sleep better, and I no longer feel tired and bloated when I wake up in the morning.
I eat breakfast as soon as I get up, If I am up at 6:30 am I eat then if I am up later then I will eat breakfast at that time. I am never up later than 9:00 am and I don't eat past 8:00 pm. I ususally go to bed about 11 pm. I am off for the summer but once september starts I will be up at 6:30 am.
I eat as soon as I wake up. Work days this means about 5:30 a.m. I try to eat dinner early, about 4:30-5:30 pm. If I eat any after dinner it is usually something light about 2 hours before I go to bed. This is my personal habit, but really the total daily calories is more important than anything. I've maintained a low weight with every combination of eating/sleeping and with every mixture of carbs to protein. The only thing that makes me really see a difference is when I change how many calories I eat in a day.
