I agree w/ the others to take it to the media. See if your story can be on the local news. That's what Alaqua did when they took in a pony near death and the owner tried to claim him. Being this guy said he adopted from Alaqua, call them back and get a written statement from them. Ask them how you can make your story heard on TV.
agreed, id take this to court in a heart beat, id also be asking someone from the shelter staff to either be there or write a letter for you stating noone by the name of the volunteer that suposedly gave them the dog works there, the dog was never there ect...
and id be sure to put a note that you want to see the documentation of adoption from this shelter ect...
contact the media too, but be carefull, it sounds like hes the kind of person to try and sue for defirmation of character ect...not worth getting into that.
After reading this thread, I don't understand why you are being so passive about this. If someone stole my dog, and I knew who it was, I would break down their door if I had to in order to get my dog back. If the cops refuse to be of any help, then so be it.
yup then you get arrested for trespassing, breaking and entering and in many cases it could be construide that YOU then stole the dog...your no good to your dog if YOUR locked away...
media, a formal police report, and a civil suit is the best way to go.
Ring a bell to the media, post your story in every social network (facebook, twitter, myspace ...) with the name, address of the bad guy, your dog's pictures, email or send a letter about this to the local newspaper, broadcast, township ... and ask for help, I'm sure your call will be answered.
Good luck.
